Spooky season might be one of the best times of the year. Especially when you get to art direct and design a campaign for the Halloween-themed dog toy boxes for BarkBox and Super Chewer.

For the month of October 2022, there were multiple promotional deals for each of the box brands, BarkBox and Super Chewer. Not to mention, a unique line of toys for each box band. BarkBox customers are offered plush toys with fun features such as squeakers and crinkle plastic, while Super Chewer customers are looking for extremely durable toys made of hard plastic, rubber, and/or ballistic nylon. These two target customers are not the same, so it is always a high priority at BARK to differentiate the creative campaigns.

As the Art Director of these marketing campaigns, I worked closely with the production design and photography team to create photography that fits seamlessly with the design of the toys and the in-box liner artwork. All the while keeping in mind that the creative made for BarkBox and Super Chewer would have to read as two separate brands. The solution was to use colorful and illustrative elements for BarkBox since that is a more light-hearted brand. For the Super Chewer creative, we used more textured effects on the photography as well as torn paper elements to reflect the thrashing/tear-up play style that Super Chewer dogs typically do.
